Greater Michigan Construction Academy begins registration for Fall 2014 Classes

Lansing, Michigan, July 2014
Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA) is now accepting registration for Fall 2014 classes. New and returning students can contact the academy to register for Electrical, HVAC, Carpentry, Concrete Finishing or the Core, pre-requisite introduction to skilled trades course.

Carpentry is being brought back to the schedule due to the regional need for more skilled workers in this area. “As we expand the training program for Lansing area students, growing the number of trades being offered is something we are all excited to see happen.”, says Jimmy Greene, President & CEO.

GMCA has been teaching skilled trades for over 20 years with nearly 300 students currently enrolled in the Academy.

Over 90% of our students work in their trade during the day and attend class one evening per week. Classes take place from 5:30 – 9:30 pm allowing students to receive on the job training during the work day while continuing to learn their craft and work toward their certification.

With the average 4-year degree from a college or university costing over $20,000 and taking upwards of 11 years to pay off, learning a skilled trade at GMCA is not only a lucrative and high growth potential career, but there is little or no student debt incurred. For an average of $600 per semester a student with a full-time job can easily pay as they go or possibly receive reimbursement through their employer.

Construction Labor Research Council (CLRC) indicates that 185,000 new employees annually will need to be added to the skilled trades workforce over the next decade. Learning a trade at GMCA will put you on the path to independence and stability with skills that will last a lifetime. What a great time to launch YOUR career in a trade.

Trades currently being offered at the Lansing Training Center:
• Core
• HVAC Level 1
• Carpentry Level 1
• Concrete Finishing Level 1
• Electrical Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4

GMCA facilitates opportunities for career growth in the construction industry through continuing education
programs targeting craft workers, foremen, supervisors, project managers, superintendents and company management. Providing such programs is important to the construction industry to achieve knowledgeable employees and a safe work environment.

GMCA is an accredited member of NCCER as well as a licensed Michigan Proprietary School and provides training that is approved by the Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship (DOL/OA). As a result, each student is entered into a national teaching program that can be easily transferred among
accredited sponsors and throughout the industry.

The semester begins the week of September 2nd at the Greater Michigan Construction Academy, 1501 Rensen St., Ste. C., Lansing.
