MIDLAND, MI, October 12, 2017 — AT&T will present a $10,000 contribution on Friday to the Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA). The contribution will support efforts to expose underserved high school students to the many skilled trade-based opportunities available to young students who are looking for an alternative to enrolling in a four-year college. Students enrolled in GMCA’s program receive hands-on training through classroom instruction and apprenticeships while working towards the goal of achieving nationally recognized certifications upon completing the program.
“Thank you AT&T for recognizing the value of our program and offering us your generous support,” said Stephanie Davis, GMCA vice president of Workforce Development & Training. “There is incredible and growing demand for a skilled workforce where a college degree is not necessarily a prerequisite. AT&T’s support allows us to continue our work to not only make young students aware of these kinds of opportunities but also provide them with the training they’ll need to be competitive applicants in a thriving job market.”
